Letting agent fees ban - Thank you for sharing your views

The Government's consultation on the proposed ban on letting agent fees in England has now closed.

With the ban expected to have a massive effect on the industry, it's no surprise that the consultation has generated a huge response.

To help letting agents, landlords and tenants make their voices heard, we've collated the responses from our survey and shared them with the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Also, the Queen’s Speech suggests the tenants’ fees ban will extend to landlords as well as agents, something our customers told us they supported.

We'll keep you posted once we know more about the results of the consultation.

Seven local apprentices help turn a pub into flats with the help of The DPS

Travelling the length and breadth of the country, we get to hear about the fantastic work charities are doing with the support of the DPS Fund.

We recently visited East Cleveland Youth Housing Trust (ECYHT) to find out how a £20,000 donation moved them one step closer to completing their largest ever project.

With the help of seven local apprentices, they were able to convert a former pub into high quality flats for vulnerable 18-25 year olds.

Make sure you check out our blog for more about ECYHT and other charities just like it.

Are you saving money by using free deposit protection?

In recent years there’s been continual change within the Private Rented Sector (PRS), and you'd be forgiven for thinking the future looks a little bleak - but there is a silver lining.

Free Custodial Deposit Protection! While Insured deposit protection schemes charge a small fee to protect tenants' deposits, we won't charge you a penny for using our Custodial scheme. That means:

> No joining fee

> No annual membership or renewal fees

> No deposit protection fees

> No fees linked to Dispute resolution volumes

We also hold the deposit for the duration of the tenancy and manage the repayment of deposits. So that’s one less admin headache to worry about.

Head over to our blog for more information about the benefits of Custodial Deposit Protection.

Reduce your outgoings today!

Be the adjudicator - a 'miscue' but who sinks the white ball?

In this month’s 'Be the adjudicator', the presence of a pool table causes a rift between landlord and tenant.

Take the adjudicator’s seat and consider the evidence now.
