From 30th April we are introducing text
message notifications, as another way of alerting Landlords and Lead
Tenants about key repayment milestones. Currently, this service will apply

1. Repayment Notifications
the end of a tenancy the repayment process is initiated either by the
Landlord or the Lead Tenant. Currently The DPS issues notification that this
process has started via email or post - SMS text messaging is being
introduced as another method of notification. The following applies to both
Landlords and Lead Tenants.
If we have a valid email address, you'll receive an email
notification. You’ll also receive an email reminder if the repayment is
If the email address is not valid but we have a valid mobile
phone number, you'll receive a SMS text message notification.
You’ll also receive a SMS text reminder if the repayment is not completed.
If the email address and mobile phone number are both not
valid, you’ll receive a postal notification.
2. Single Claim Notification
a Single Claim is initiated by the Landlord or the Lead Tenant (i.e. the
valid Statutory Declaration has been received and processed) we will send
either an email or a SMS text message* to the other party
informing them that a Single Claim Notification has been sent to them in
the post and that we need to receive the completed Notification within 14
3. Alternative Dispute Resolution
When a Landlord Evidence Form is issued by The DPS (as a result of the dispute
process being initiated) we will automatically send either an email or a SMS text message* informing that a
Landlord Evidence Form has been posted and that we need to receive the
completed form together with their evidence within 14 days.
When a Tenant Evidence Form is issued (as a result of a completed Landlord
Evidence Form being received from the Landlord) we will automatically send
either an email or a SMS text message* to the Lead Tenant
informing that a Tenant Evidence Form has been posted to them and that we
need to receive the completed form together with their evidence within 14

As you can see from the above, it’s essential that both Landlords and Lead
Tenants register a current email address and mobile phone number with The
DPS - it can significantly speed up the repayment process!

We will not use your mobile phone number for any marketing purposes or
supply to any third parties.
Our Terms & Conditions will be updated to reflect these changes on the 30th
April 2010, accessible on The DPS website.
