Helping prevent housing and financial difficulty for those in need.
The Computershare Loan Services and The DPS Charity Fund supports organisations that combat financial hardship, either through education or helping people in financial difficulty, or those involved in housing, particularly those supporting the homeless or those in need of secure accommodation.
Every six months we donate £2,500 to a relevant cause working to help housing or financial difficulties near one of our four UK offices in:
In total, we have £10,000 to donate every six months.
We’d like to hear from charities based in these areas that focus on housing or financial hardship and are seeking donations.
Who are Computershare Loan Services?
Computershare Loan Services is the UK's largest third-party administrator of mortgages and has supported millions of customers through the lifecycle of their loans.
Who are The DPS?
We’re the original Government authorised Custodial scheme, protecting over 7.2 million deposits since 2007, and the largest provider of deposit protection in the UK.
Since 2004, The DPS has provided funding to specialist organisations that help people affected by homelessness or who need supportive accommodation. Now, we’re teaming up with our sister company, Computershare Loan Services to increase the support we can give to those who need it.
How does the fund work?
Our committee is made up from representatives from each of our offices. We meet every six months to review applications from charities and decide how best to allocate awards. We assess applicants against our submission criteria and evaluate how well the application fulfils the aims of the fund.
Who can apply?
We welcome submissions from charities in the Derry, Yorkshire, Sunderland and Bristol areas that focus on housing or financial hardship.
If you've been unsuccessful with a previous submission, it doesn’t mean you won’t be successful if you apply again! Before submitting another application, feel free to ask for feedback.
How does my charity apply?
If you want to apply you must meet the following criteria:
- Your charity must be working in Yorkshire or in the areas around Bristol, Derry or Sunderland
- Your charity must be registered and be able to provide a UK charity registration number
- Your charity should be focused on financial education or difficulty, housing or a combination of these areas.

As part of the application process we’ll also ask you for your latest annual accounts, and to confirm that you have read and agree to the T&Cs.
By following these steps, you'll increase your chances of receiving an award.
Please note we expect to receive a high volume of requests throughout the year and therefore will not be able to respond to every application.
There are two submission closing dates each year:
- 31 March
- 1 August
Are there any restrictions or eligibility criteria?
We don’t provide any funding for the following:
- General area improvements unless they are designed to meet specific objectives
- Religious charities
- Charity attendance at events
