The Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is looking for landlords in England to help test the PRS Database, inviting them to take part in a private beta phase to help shape its future direction. The purpose of this phase is purely to test usability and ensure the system works well for landlords.

They're looking for:

  • individual landlords
  • joint landlords
  • overseas landlords (those that reside outside the UK but have properties in England)
  • organisational landlords such as companies, trusts and charities
  • landlords using letting agents solely to manage their properties
  • landlords that require assistance when using digital services
  • landlords that are unable to use digital services

During the private beta phase, volunteers will be asked to register on the database and provide feedback on their experience. The database won't be implemented until later in the year, and any information entered during the beta phase will be deleted shortly afterwards.

Testing will take place in stages over the coming months, beginning in mid-February. If you register and don't hear from MHCLG immediately, don't worry, your details will be recorded and they'll contact you when the next testing phase begins.

Interested in taking part?

Please email PRSDatabase@communities.gov.uk to register your interest, stating:

  • your name
  • the type of landlord you are (individual, joint, organisational or overseas)
  • if you use letting agents, managing agents, or manage your property yourself
